Trail Runner Redstone Winter Fest 5K Snowshoe Race set for Saturday, February 6

New event enhances 12th Annual Winter Fest in historic Redstone, Colorado

Trail Runner staff is hosting a 5K snowshoe run and walk during the 12th annual Redstone Winter Fest on Saturday, February 6 at 10 a.m.. Bring your own snowshoes or borrow on-site demos provided by Summit Canyon and race sponsor Crescent Moon snowshoes (quantities are limited) to race the groomed race course around Redstone Castle. Top male and female finishers each win a pair of Crescent Moon snowshoes (www.crescentmoonsnowshoes.com).

The cost to enter is only $20 and includes a complimentary coupon (valued at $10) to the chili cook-off. While enjoying your post-race chili, sample regionally brewed beers and browse the winter-recreation gear expo.

 

Other events taking place during Winter Fest weekend include pancake breakfasts, cross-country ski races and ice climbing. Test out the latest ice-climbing gear and learn mixed-climbing techniques (climbing on ice and rock) from top ice climbers.

 

Dog lovers should stick around for the 5th Annual Redstone Boulevard Dog Parade complete with judged categories, prizes and competitive games, doggie first-aid class, Avalanche Rescue Dog demos, Colorado Animal Rescue adoptions and Ski-Joring Clinics. Kids will have fun at the snow sculpture event, kids’ games, a scavenger hunt, ski race and marshmallow roasting.
