The North Face TRAIL RUNNER is a unique five-day stage race over 450 kilometers (280 miles) to be held October 12-16, 2010. The race is a true adventure open to all running enthusiasts looking for an unforgettable experience and adventure. It is designed for elite runners and aficionados alike looking to explore some of the best locations in Costa Rica.

DETAILS
The North Face TRAIL RUNNER invites you to live an adventure out of the ordinary. The North Face TRAIL RUNNER is a relay trekking race in teams of four people racing over five consecutive days in the exceptional wild environment of the Costa Rica mountains.

TEAMS
The teams of four people, with one or two assistants, may be mixed, or all male or all female. The assistants may not replace a competitor. Each team must be represented by a team captain, who must be one of the competitors. The team captain will represent the team with regard to the organisation and the jury. The team will race under its chosen name or the one of its sponsors.

THE EVENT
Discover a great diversity of landscapes: valleys of bananas, coffee, rainforest, giant ferns, flowers and the 5 percent of all plant and animal species of the world that Costa Rica covers.

The event starts in Playa SAMARA, one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. From there you cross beautiful and ever changing landscapes to reach the Arenal volcano, which has small eruptions every 15 minutes, and ending at the Caribbean ocean.

The race welcomes all level of runners. Some runners come just for the satisfaction of crossing the finish line, while some to compete with themselves and friends while others come to win, but all come to discover a fantastic country rich in fauna and flora. PRIZES
While many participants come to endurance stage events with the simple goal of getting to the finish line, there will be fierce competition at the front of the pack for the $20,000 in prize money and gifts from our sponsors up for grabs in two different team categories: Open TEAM - mixed TEAM - master TEAM.
