SLO ULTRA OVERVIEW

The 2017 SLO Ultra presented by VisitAvilaBeach.com weekend of events celebrates dirt lovers in one of the most beautiful, private lands in California. In partnership with HomeFed, the Official Host of the event and The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo, the event’s official beneficiary, the SLO Ultra showcases a beautiful, one-of-a-kind natural resource to runners, hikers and new this year mountain bike riders on California’s wild coastline at Wild Cherry Canyon.

SLO Ultra Trail Runs

The weekend of events kickoff on Saturday, September 9 with the SLO Ultra trail races featuring four distances—50 Mile Ultra, 26.2 Marathon, 13.1 Half Marathon and a 5 Mile. The 2016 event sold out at 1,200 participants and we expect an early sell out again in 2017. Along with access to Wild Cherry Canyon, SLO Ultra participants on Saturday will enjoy a Bluegrass Festival that is open to the public and features hot BBQ from the famous Rib Line and cold local brews. In addition as you’ll find with all Race SLO events, participants will be treated to a VIP experience with changing tents thanks to Life Elements and a recovery lounge thanks to Moore Sports Recovery.

Ultra badass, Patagonia ambassador, race director and coach, Krissy Moehl, returns as an ambassador and for the first time is partnering with the race to provide exclusive training programs for 50 Mile and 26.2 Mile athletes as well as a Sunday VIP coffee & carbs run.

SLO Ultra Mountain Bike Rides

On Sunday, September 10, the inaugural SLO Ultra Mountain Bike festival welcomes riders to this California coastal gem. The two-loop Wild Cherry Canyon courses will feature 18-25 mile options and 36-50 mile options. Sunday events will keep the weekend dirt party going with the continuation of the Bluegrass Festival that is open to the public and features hot BBQ from the famous Rib Line and cold local brews. In addition riders will also be treated to a VIP experience with changing tents thanks to Life Elements and a recovery lounge thanks to Moore Sports Recovery.

The Sunday events will feature “Queen of Pain”, Rebecca Rusch, Red Bull sponsored athlete, seven-time world champion, four-time Leadville 100 champion, author and firefighter.
