Run back in time
The Petra Desert Marathon is run in and around the ancient, fabled city of Petra, Jordan - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the "New 7 Wonders of the World".
This desert run starts in Petra amid archeological monuments, which were carved out of red rose sandstone mountains thousands of years ago. The course leads runners past incredible tombs, mountainside carvings and caves before venturing into the arid, lunar-like landscape of the Jordanian desert.
Marathon and half-marathon distances are available.
With temperatures as high as 35°C/95°F and a hilly route offering very little shade, Petra Desert Marathon is an arduous race, but the reward is a sightseeing tour in the land of the Bedouins - a lunar-like landscape of red, yellow, brown and golden-colored mountains in dreamlike shapes. It's a land where camels and goats are curious spectators.
Being rich in history, culture and scenic nature, Jordan also offers its visitors superb possibilities for an exciting vacation. Entry includes a multi-day tour package offering accommodation, transportation and excursions to key landmarks. From the splendid ruins of Petra and the vast and awe-inspiring Wadi Rum desert, to a floating swim in the Dead Sea - Jordan has something for everyone to enjoy, not the mention, the generous Jordanian hospitality.
This challenging desert race is one-of-a-kind. Join us in Petra to experience this historical treasure and push your limits!
