First Look: 2XU HEAT Run Tight

The HEAT Run Tights are a good choice for those who run cold and want some solid compression. As winter approaches, these will help with those cold morning runs.

HEAT Run Tight by 2XU
Weight: 8.6 oz
Materials: 58% polyester, 32% viscose, 10% elastane
Price: $90

Best Features: Warm, odor resistant, minimal look
Room for Improvement: Small Pocket, bunching around knees

The HEAT Run Tight (find the men’s version here) boasts a revolutionary heat-activated, ceramic-infused yarn made to create warmth and provide protection against odor and bacteria. After a few uses in 30-to 40-degree Fahrenheit weather, the tight was indeed warm and post-workout odor was minimal.

The HEAT Run Tight has a very light, brushed fleece lining that seamlessly wicks sweat away—perfect for chilly days, though I wouldn’t necessarily recommend running in single digits in this tight. The compression level on this tight is not as high as other 2XU products but is definitely present, particularly along the side panels and in the calves. The fit of the tight is good, despite some bunching of fabric behind the knees. The elastane in the tight allows for flexibility and range of motion, despite the compressive feel. The small pocket on this tight is just enough for a few credit cards, a key or a gel. Do not expect to go on a long run in this tight without supplemental storage.

The HEAT Run tights come in a reflective version and simple version. The simple version doesn’t broadcast the logo as some other 2XU products and I’d even consider wearing them under a dress to work on a cold day. The only feature that I hope 2XU considers for future iterations is a little more stretch behind the knees.
